AZUGA Located in Prahova County, this town is situated on the superior valley of Prahova river where it converges with Azuga River. Sheltered at the foothills of Bucegi and Baiului Mountains, at an altitude of 895 – 950 m, Azuga is only 60 km North-West of Ploiesti city. This is a general interest mountain resort where people are constantly coming for the tonic and fresh environment, clean, rich and ionized air free of allergen agents and dust, which ia also highly recommended for the treatment of neurasthenia, and physical and mental exhaustion. This little settlement was founded in 1830, and, until 1881, it was called “Întreprahove†(approximately, In Between Prahova Rivers). In 1948, Azuga it is declared town. It is also a touristic center, a starting point for
hiking trails in Bucegi and Baiului Mountains, and it has several ski runs/
slopes: Clabucet 2224 m (accredited by the Olympic Committee), and Cazacu, a
new and very difficult slope with fast,
modern and high quality transportation installations.
