POIANA BRAȘOV

It is mountain resort in Brașov County situated in the middle of a large meadow surrounded by coniferous forests, at the foothills of Postăvaru Massif, and at an elevation of 1030 m. Poiana Brașov (Brașov Meadow) is only 12 km South - West away from Brașov County.

The climate here is specific to mountain areas, with annual temperatures of 50C (in July the average temperature reaches 14,50C, and in January only -5oC), and precipitations of 900 mm/ annum (frequent, but short rains). The snow blanket survives approximately 120 days/ year. The air is clean, rich, and free of allergen agents and dust, and the relatively low atmospheric pressure and the strongly ionized climate are great natural factors that make this resort to be highly recommended for the treatment of neurasthenia, physical and mental exhaustion, and endocrine and respiratory conditions.

Poiana Brașov is the most complex winter resort in Romania and an important international touristic centre with 12 ski runs/ slopes with various difficulty rankings, sports halls (tennis, minigolf, handball, basketball), a recreational lake, cable cars, ski lifts, teleski, indoor pools, saunas, medical centre gyms, discos, restaurants, etc. Accommodation is provided in luxury hotels, several villas, and chalets. There are also several hiking trails to Postăvaru Chalet (1602 m), and Râșnov Fortress (14 -17 century).
